Suz's Tip of the Week

With the holiday season in full swing, this tip of the week will help to keep some of those unwanted pounds away.

We all know that when it comes to Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, etc. there is copious amounts of food. Unfortunately, most of this food is not healthy. But it's the holiday season, why would you want to restrict yourself during this time of the year?

So here's a tip that you can apply throughout the entire year, but particularly at this time of the year.

Our brain has a difficult time distinguishing between when we are thirsty, and when we are actually hungry. Many times that you think you are hungry, your brain is actually trying to tell you to drink something. So before you head to the dinner table, or holiday breakfast buffet, take an 8 oz glass of water. Drink the whole glass, and WAIT ten minutes before you start eating.

Not only will the water satiate your thirst, it will also help to fill up your stomach. This ensures that even if you DO consume the holiday meal, you'll be eating less, and your body will be able to more readily feel when it is full.

A tip to use all year round, but one that can be especially beneficial at this time of year!
